1: First you need to have Skype installed on your computer, if you don’t I have a Skype download link below for you. You will also need a webcam to talk and see each other during the lesson.
2: We need to organise a time for our first lesson, we can do that by email.
I am available for lessons all week:
Monday to Sunday between 8am – 8pm West Australian time (+8 hrs). Here is a link to a regional time zone calculator to see the local time in your country.
3: Our first lesson will be to get to know each other and for me to see what level your Japanese ability is and where you want to go with it, I can then work out a suitable program for you.
Lesson plans and goals are flexible depending on you as everybody has different needs. For example you might want to learn some basic Japanese for an upcoming holiday in Japan so you can speak to shop keepers, catch the right train or ask directions on the street, or you might need the more advanced writing, listening and speaking skills needed for Japanese related employment or living in Japan.
If you are unsure about your needs or would like to talk with me before committing to lessons you can request a FREE ‘15 min Question Time with Yoshiko’
4: Lessons can be either 1 hour or 2 hours. A two hour lesson is a long time and can become tiring, so most people choose the 1 hour lesson as it gives enough time to develop the lesson and still feel fully engaged during the hour.
The time between lessons is up to you, every day, once a week or irregular timing. Booking a lesson will also depend on my schedule, but I will do everything I can to accommodate your booking requests.
5: It’s essential to know something of Japanese culture to understand the language and this aspect can be included in lessons: food, general manners, cultural do’s and don’ts, etc
